My Journey into Watchmaking: The Heart Behind Hearken

During my mission in the France Lyon Mission from 2016 to 2018, I already had a deep fascination with watches. Even then, I knew that as soon as I completed my mission, I wanted to move to Switzerland and pursue a career in the watch industry. That dream wasn’t random—it was rooted in family legacy. My father was born and raised in the small Swiss town of Ligerz, located just next to Biel/Bienne, often referred to as the watch capital of the world.

He began his own journey in the watch industry through an apprenticeship and has continued in that field ever since. In many ways, as his watch journey continued, mine was just beginning.

For my mission, I wore a watch my father had given me—an incredible timepiece with deep personal meaning. But it was also a higher-end watch, the kind not typically recommended for daily missionary work due to the risk of damage or loss. Over time, that experience sparked an idea that has stayed with me: What if there was a watch made specifically for missionaries—something affordable, durable, and spiritually meaningful?

That idea has now become Hearken.

Hearken Missionary Watch: Built for the Work

Missionaries face long days filled with service, study, and teaching—often in tough conditions. Hearken watches are designed to endure those demands. They're rugged, reliable, and simple—yet carry a purpose deeper than just keeping time. At a glance, they’re a reminder of why you serve: to represent Jesus Christ. In a world increasingly distracted by technology, where smartwatches keep us tethered to constant notifications, Hearken stands apart. There’s no buzz, no screen—just a quiet, focused reminder to keep Christ at the center of your day.

Hearken Temple Watch: Sacred Simplicity

Alongside the missionary model, we’ve also created a version of Hearken for temple workers. In these sacred settings, distractions should be minimized. The temple version of the Hearken watch reflects that spirit—reverent, minimal, and centered on Christ. Whether you’re officiating or serving in any capacity, this watch is designed to blend seamlessly with your sacred work, reminding you of the eternal purpose behind every ordinance and every moment.

Why Hearken?
The name “Hearken” was chosen with intent. It’s a scriptural invitation—a call to listen, to focus, to follow Christ. That’s what we hope these watches inspire: a moment of stillness in a busy world. A tool for those who serve. A symbol of who we represent.

From a family legacy in Swiss watchmaking to a shared desire to support missionaries and temple workers, Hearken was born. This isn’t just about telling time—it’s about remembering why we serve.
